The second St.Maarten-St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta was again a huge success despite the fact that several yachts could not make it (we had 18 yachts registered and 10 on the start line)
All yachts participated in perfect conditions.
Once again several owners, skippers and crew confirmed that the St.Maarten-St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta 2007 was a great event in the Caribbean, and all participants have already indicated that they would be back next year.
As most of you remember we started with 6 yachts in our first regatta and now ended up with ten so we're growing!

A big "Thank You" to Pam who assisted in this year's regatta during many months and who organized a big part of the event.
Thanks Anke for organizing the silent auction and helping with may other things.
Thanks Rien Korteknie who was our technical director and Mirian Ebbers who was again our course director, thanks also to the members of the Race Committee, to Kenny Coombs and Tonny from the Antigua Classics who have been so kind to help us with the ratings thanks Sunsail / Moorings who sponsored the Start and finish catamaran, thanks to the people who have placed the course buoys, all the volunteers/trainees, the members of the local and International press...

Of course we would also like to thank our sponsors, The Maritime School of the West Indies, La Cave du Vin & Mumm Champagnes, Amstel, Zenitel/Chuchibi, Sixt Car Rental, Captain Oliver's, Ama Jewelers, Holland House, the Windward Island Bank, Last Mango in Paradise, the St.Maarten Charter Yacht Exhibition, Texaco, Taloula Mango's, Radio Transat, Island 92, Trakx, both the Island governments and the St.Maarten Yacht club for supporting us and to assist in this second edition of the regatta.
Most of them have already committed to continue their sponsorship for the upcoming event in 2008.

I would like to thank also both the St.Maarten Nature Foundation and the French Réserve Naturelle for which Anke Roosens from our foundation organized again the silent auction.
By assisting with their boats we could give the press and our "on the water " doctors a first view of what was happening.

"Thank you" words also to the owners of the yachts, captains, and crew.
We know that this is a young regatta with only a few yachts but thanks to your participation we are growing and 2008 promises to see an extensive growth in numbers of participants.

Thanks also to the members of "Les Sauveteurs en Mer" and the Sea Rescue who have been around during the regatta days and ready to assist.

Thanks Mario for hosting again the Auction and Award Giving Party with buffet at Rancho's restaurant and thank you Neil for the Openings Party at the Spinnaker bar.
Thanks Rene Florijn for assisting us with your wonderful services and beautiful tents!
A special "thank you" also for all the members of our own advisory board, without your efforts we would not have succeeded.
Thanks a million Peter Whiterose for the regatta music composition, Donald Tofias and Lea De Haas for supporting us throughout the year by promoting our classic at other regattas, Veerle as our main sponsor with the Maritime School of the West Indies, Johan who came back from Holland for the regatta, Els for the pictures, de Choco for being our Stage Manager and technical do it all, Thais, Vera and the girls, Anno for the banners, and many, many others.

A big part of this successful regatta belongs to you.

I'm sure that we've forgotten to mention important people who have worked hard to make this regatta again a success, if your name is not mentioned here please let us know and we will be more than happy to ad you to the list.
Thanks anyone who we forgot to mention.
I look forward to the third edition of the St.Maarten-St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta scheduled for Thursday January 17 - Friday 18 - Saturday 19 and Sunday 20, 2008 with more participating yachts and the same sailing spirit as this year.
We will update this web site on a regular base.

Stay tuned...
