Notice of Race

The St.Maarten - St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta Foundation takes pleasure in inviting you to compete in the 1st annual St.Maarten-St.Martin  Classic Yacht Regatta. December 2nd – 4th, 2005.

The organizing authority is the St.Maarten - St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta Foundation affiliated to the Sint Maarten Yacht Club. The Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing of ISAF (2005 - 2008), this notice of race and by the sailing instructions. This is a “gentleman’s race” and any yacht being sailed in an aggressive or reckless manner or displaying poor seamanship may be excused from further participation.

Classes
The Regatta will be held for the following Classes that may get subdivided:

Classic Division: CSA Simplified Rating Rule
Spirit of Tradition Division: CSA Rating Rule

These divisions may get subdivided into more classes.

Advertising
The event will be Category “A” as specified in the RRS 2005-2008.
The event organizers may require boats to display advertising in accordance with rule 20.3.

Entries
Boats may enter by sending their entry to the St.Maarten - St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta Foundation by fax, mail or E-mail form no later than November 20th 2005.

Fees
The entry fee may be handed in at registration. The fee is payable by – CASH – VISA/Mastercard, sorry but no checks are accepted.
Entry Fee is in US $ Dollars.

All Classes: US$ 4,00 per foot.
This entree fee also includes a snack buffet at the La Samanna beach / anchorage after Saturday’s race for the captain and crew on the participating boats.

Registration
Registration will be at La Palapa Center & Marina Friday December 2nd , 1:00pm untill 6:00pm. Each entry form by this time must have attached a current (2005) CSA simplified rating certificate.

Skippers Briefing
The Skippers Briefing will take place at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club at 7.00pm

Race start
The warning signal for the first race will not be before 9:50 am on Saturday December 3rd 2005.

Courses
The race courses will be on the waters around the islands of St.Maarten/St.Martin.
The sailing instructions and course details will be available at registration.

Scoring System
The low point system of Appendix A will apply.

Changes to the Racing Rules
Rule 52 Manual power shall not apply

Protests
Protests are NOT encouraged. Good sportsmanship and common sense should prevail. Competitors are reminded that larger traditional yachts are not noticeably maneuverable. Safety should be given utmost priority. If absolutely necessary, protests shall be lodged in accordance with the ISAF regulations.

Prizes
When competing in the Classic Regatta a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in each class can be won.
Overall trophies may be handed out.

CSA Rating Certificate
You will need an updated 2005 (simplified) CSA rating certificate.
All measurements are to be supplied by the captain or owner on the Entry Form before a CSA simplified rating will be issued at the skippers briefing.
Please note that the Spirit of Tradition Class does require a full and currant CSA measurement certificate. Contact the committee for details.

Other Information
Multiple headsails may be flown, provided they are the vessel’s normal headsails, listed as such, declared on the Entry Form and have hanks or furling luff tape, or are part of the original designed sail inventory (No MPSs, MPGs, or spinnakers are allowed except in the “Spirit of Tradition Class”).
There will be no recalls, vessels judged to be over the line early will have a five-minute penalty added to their elapsed time.

Your entry in the St.Maarten – St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta will constitute a declaration of acceptance of all disclaimers made by the regatta.
